I am currently studying Musical Interpretation at the University of Chile, specifically the violoncello. The field of work of a cellist is to be a soloist, chamber musician, orchestra musician or to be a teacher and to teach how to play the instrument. I like all the options, except being a teacher. What I would most like is to be an orchestra musician. This is great because I could play a lot of music every week, although due to this I must study and rehearse a lot with the orchestra. Being a musician has its advantages: you travel a lot and meet many people from different places. You also know many beautiful places that serve as inspiration for us. There are very beautiful theaters around the world. The place of work of the musicians is always the theater, that's where the music is rehearsed and played. The salary of an orchestra musician depends a lot on the orchestra and the position it holds. For example, the first cello earns more money than the last cello. This

I’m going to talk about the “bow”. It is a musical tool that is use in the right hand of the musician and serves to play the violin, viola, violoncello or double bass. The bow is a wooden stick that has horse main. The mains are used for the bow is usually mongolian horse. This horse was in danger extinction in 20° Century, but was saved of disappearance by naturists. The Wood that is used for the construction of this bow is Pernambuco. Pernambuco is a wood from Brazil and is very famous for being a very hard wood. The bow has been changing over time. In the baroque period the bow was curved upwards and the modern period has a downward curve The size of the bow is very important. For example: the violin uses a bow more largest and the double bass use a bow more smallest. Also the weight is different: the violin uses a bow thinner and the double bass use a bow more heavyweight. My bow was made by the craftsman Domingos Fazio and has details made for me. It was made i

Music and interpretation. The music was always linked to my life. I started studying violoncello at 4 years old and I studied in an art school “Liceo Experimental Artístico de Antofagasta”. I don’t remember why I chose the violoncello (certainly the music) because I was very young, but mi mom was the person responsible for this. She took me to the birthday of a friend of her who played in the orchestra of my city. My mom told me that her friend played the “Happy Birthday” in violoncello and I was shocked, so she offered to be my teacher. If I had to talk about some positive side or benefit of studing music (really art in general) is that it sensitizes people and makes you see life in a different way. Each person is sensitized in their own way of course. As an Orchestra musician, I have traveled to many places in Chile to play with orchestra. It has given me the opportunity to know th south of Chile (I am from Antofagasta) although this for me is totall

I remember when I was to concert in Movistar Arena in Santiago. The band was Cultura Profética and I enjoyed it! The concert was in 2014 and I was with a female friend from Valparaiso. Cultura Profética is a reggae band from Puerto Rico and the singer is Willy Rodriguez. They made their debut in 1996 and in 1998 they made their first álbum “Canción de Alerta”. The concert lasted 1 hour and half, but I came in the middle of the concert for listen my favorite songs. The atmosphere in the event was nice, the people were dancing and sing the songs. The musician of the band was very goods! The brass, guitar, bass, chorus sections, drums, all was incredible! The reggae relax me and I not listen often this but I enjoy very much when I do it. Cultura Profética played in Quinta Vergara of Viña del Mar in February, 2015. When the event finished, I meet with friends from Antofagasta! I wish to get back this event!
