My future job
I am
currently studying Musical Interpretation at the University of Chile,
specifically the violoncello. The field of work of a cellist is to be a
soloist, chamber musician, orchestra musician or to be a teacher and to teach
how to play the instrument. I like all the options, except being a teacher.
What I would most like is to be an orchestra musician. This is great because I
could play a lot of music every week, although due to this I must study and
rehearse a lot with the orchestra.
Being a
musician has its advantages: you travel a lot and meet many people from
different places. You also know many beautiful places that serve as inspiration
for us. There are very beautiful theaters around the world.
The place
of work of the musicians is always the theater, that's where the music is
rehearsed and played.
The salary
of an orchestra musician depends a lot on the orchestra and the position it
holds. For example, the first cello earns more money than the last cello. This
is because the work of the first cello is a little more difficult: you must
play the cello solos of the musical works, you must also guide and make musical
decisions to order the other cellos.
A musician
has very versatile and entertaining activities. The orchestra is one of them.
